Neuro-Affirming Social Groups

Neuro-Affirming Social Groups

We embrace neurodiversity, understanding that differences such as Autism, ADHD and other developmental conditions are part of what makes someone unique, not deficits to be “fixed.” That's why our social groups focus on making friends authentically, rather than teaching arbitrary "social skills." Our therapist-led groups build confidence, teach self-advocacy, and help kids learn to respect differences through whole-body learning and team-building activities. We tailor our approach to focus on each child’s individual strengths, interests and processing style so that they feel valued and respected as part of the group. Join a group or contact for more info.

Frequently Asked Questions

what does "Neurodiversity-Affirming" mean?

We believe that neurodiversity is a natural and beautiful part of human diversity. "Neurodiversity" describes how humans have differences in brain functioning styles like Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and so much more. Someone may be called "neurodivergent" if their brain functioning style is different from what society considers "normal." At Lemon City Collective, we realize that there is no such thing as "normal," and our different perspectives make us stronger as a community. Our approach embraces these differences, seeing them as integral to a person's identity. We work with your child's neurotype to help them build on their unique strengths and love who they are.

what is a therapy intensive?

Therapy intensives are designed to target a few specific therapy goals within a short time frame. Intensives usually span 2 to 4 weeks, during which time your child will receive 1 or more hours of therapy at our office 4 or 5 days per week. This approach works well during key developmental periods, to support recovery from a procedure, or when new skills are emerging. While other facilities focus their intensives on just one treatment approach, we use a variety of interventions based on what best suits your child's needs and what is supported by research. Because intensives are a big commitment, we want to make sure it is a good fit for your child based on their presentation, your family's schedule, and our available resources. Our team can help you decide if an intensive is the right fit for your child and explain next steps.

Do you offer more than therapy?

In addition to Physical and Occupational therapy, we offer group classes and activities focused on inclusion and community-building. We know that playing with peers is just as important to a child's development as therapy interventions, so we have created a space where all children can participate in extra-curricular activities regardless of their ability level.

do you work with insurance?

Lemon City Collective is an out of network provider with all insurance companies. This means that we do not submit claims directly to insurance, but we are happy to provide superbills to our clients upon request. We are approved providers for the Step Up for Students Unique Abilities scholarship. We also provide financial assistance through The Lemon Fund, and have partnered with Advocacy Abby to help families secure grant funding for our services and other needs.

What people have to say

"My son suffered a drowning at the age of one. Shortly after his accident we met Brittany, she has been his therapist now for six years!!! She is amazing at her job, she has pushed him further than anyone thought he could go. All because she believed in him. She had a heart of GOLD, truly cares about every patient and is so creative when it comes to helping her patients. I don't know if you will find a more caring or compassionate therapist in all of Florida. Our son absolutely adores her and so do we!"

Iris Morales

"My son was diagnosed with hemiplegia when he was just 7 months old and unable to coordinate movement on his left side body. Fast forward two years, he is now walking, running, climbing, throwing, grabbing his toys, and able to participate in pre school. Lemon City uses a tailored approached to each child and makes therapy fun. I don’t what we would have done our where my family would be without this early intervention. The owner, Brittany is kind, loving, knowledgeable, and truly cares about each kiddo. This kindness and caring extends to the parents too. Thank you LCC!!!"
